About the Instructor

 

I'm so glad you found this site!

 

After twenty years as an elementary and middle school teacher, I began to look for a way to combine my love for teaching with my love for sewing and crafting. Room to Sew fulfills that! I am able to share a life-long skill with young (and old!) learners - in a fun, creative, and encouraging way.

 

My mother taught me to sew at a young age. I remember proudly modeling my first year 4-H apron, and from then on I was hooked! In my forty-plus years of sewing, I've made everything from baptismal gowns to bridesmaid dresses; from doll clothes to Halloween costumes; from window treatments to pillows, duvets, and other home decor items. Not only has sewing provided an outlet for enjoyment and creativity, but it has also saved a bundle of money by sewing my own draperies, hemming pants, dresses, and skirts, and by making gifts. Sewing is a relaxing and creative hobby, and lessons are an investment as well!
